The approach
Meliá Hotel in Zanzibar was completed in late 2005. With just 45 km from the capital Stone Town, this sophisticated all-inclusive resort is located in an unbeatable spot with romantic rooms and private villas, with infinity pools and views of the Indian. Meliá Zanzibar is surrounded by a natural coral reef, and is built on a 16-hectare estate beside a 300-meter-long white sandy beach which blends harmoniously into the environment. The Hotel is designed within landscaped garden to harmoniously blend in with its natural surrounds, only materials native to the island have been used in its construction. The hotel is designed in a style that is reflective of the traditional architecture of Zanzibar. The buildings are constructed using locally-sourced materials like coral stone and thatched roofs, which give the hotel a unique, authentic feel. The interior decor of the hotel is heavily influenced by Swahili culture, with rich colours, intricate patterns, and traditional artwork featured throughout. The layout of the hotel is based on open-air design with many of the common areas and rooms in the hotel are designed to be open-air, allowing guests to enjoy the warm tropical breeze and stunning ocean views.
